Be very wary of this seller, Polsteins Home & Beyond
I have written to Amazon.com about the deceptive selling practices of this third-party seller. According to the seller, this item has been out of stock since July 28, 2009. Meanwhile, this page shows that the item is "in stock" for the past 9 days (today is August 9, 2009). I placed the order July 7, 2009 since much like today, it showed in-stock status. The seller tells me 9 days later, when I call them to find out what is taking so long, that they e-mailed me a day after I ordered informing me of a backorder. I received no such e-mail. The seller tells me that the item should be in August 11, 2009 and no later than August 12, 2009, yet miraculously it is in stock today August 6, 2009. They never say the item is out of stock since they would lose many orders; they just hope that the item comes back in by the time the customer wakes up. So bottom line is, either make sure that the item is in stock from the seller or order from somewhere else, or you could be waiting a long time for your order.
Update 8/12/09- I see that Polsteins Home & Beyond is no longer listed as a seller on this page. That is a good thing. I finally got the fan, however, like a previous reviewer, the fan that I received is a black Westpointe fan, not a silver Lakewood fan as pictured and described. What fraud.
Could be quieter but still works well
I was looking for a practically silent fan - this is not it, but it is very close. In fact, I am buying another fan today!
Good for small spaces and travel
I needed a fan when I travel to circulate air on my face, and to use to dry out my ice skates or wet boots. This fan does these limited jobs admirably. Plus it's small enough to pack in a suitcase. My fan never quit, but eventually the stand came apart from the stress of being jammed in a suitcase, hence my need to buy a replacement. Don't expect it to move air more than a couple of feet. My old one rattled slightly, but it was about the level of a snore from a medium sized dog so it wasn't horrible. If it does rattle, the construction is simple enough that you can dampen the sound yourself.
